Frequently asked questions

Why choose Connected Wellness Center over big online companies or local medi-spas?

  • Flashy online medical companies have an impersonal, corporate feel, and no option for in-person appointments if you need or prefer them. We’re local, and we provide excellent, highly personalized care.

  • Weight loss clinics affiliated with local large hospital systems have wait lists of six months or longer, and once you finally get an appointment your insurance may not cover the medications they recommend. With us, you can get started right away; in most cases we have appointments available within a week. Through our FDA-regulated pharmacy, we provide medications with the same active ingredients as pricey brand names— just as safe and effective, at a fraction of the cost, and delivered to your door in a matter of days.

  • Medi-spas encourage us to focus on our “flaws,” and they promise the impossible: perfection. With a comfortable, down-to-Earth approach, we’ll work with you to set goals for realistic and sustainable changes.

How can I get in touch if I have questions or concerns about my treatment plan or medication?

For non-urgent concerns, please send a message through your secure patient portal account, text, or email. We make every effort to reply within 24 hours. If you think you may be having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately.

How will I get my medications and supplements?

Your medications, supplements, and any necessary supplies will be delivered to your home, usually within three business days of your visit.

Can my medications and supplements be sent to my local pharmacy?

The majority of medications and supplements will be provided through our compounding pharmacy.

What is a compounding pharmacy?

Compounding pharmacies are facilities in which board-certified pharmacists compound, or produce, medications to meet patient-specific needs. Compounding pharmacies are subject to strict oversight by both state and federal authorities. They are regulated by State Boards of Pharmacy, and are overseen by both the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Why does Connected Wellness Center use compounding pharmacies?

Many medications are extremely expensive, which is a big part of why insurances will not cover them. Additionally, when medications are paid for through insurance, the insurance companies dictate which medications an individual can take as well as what doses they can take. Using compounding pharmacies allows us to treat our patients based on the needs of each individual, and for a fraction of the cost of commercially available brand name versions.

Are compounding pharmacies safe?

Yes. In addition to meeting rigorous safety standards set by State Boards of Pharmacy, the FDA, and the DEA, many compounding pharmacies further assure patient safety by adhering to the strict requirements of the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB). PCAB-accredited pharmacies meet the highest standards for medication compounding, ensuring quality control and patient safety. All of your medications will be provided to you through a PCAB-accredited pharmacy.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pharmaceutical Compounding

Will my visits, medications, supplements, or supplies be covered by my insurance?

Connected Wellness Center services, including visits, medications, supplements, and supplies, are self-pay only. Medical insurance is not accepted. An exception is lab studies, which we place orders for and which most patients elect to pay for with insurance.

Additionally, a Superbill can be provided for every visit. This is a document detailing services provided that you can submit to your insurance company to request reimbursement. If you want to be reimbursed for our services by your insurance company, we recommend you contact your plan prior to your visit to determine whether reimbursement is available.
